Q14 / TEAM
Problem 14
Why don't my team just 'get it'?

The short answer
How do I run a team effectiveness session? Three columns: what did we do well, what can we improve, and issues, concerns and ideas. Everyone adds items on their own first, with no discussion. Then group them, vote, and agree actions with owners and dates. The rule: fix some - not all - of what's raised, straight away. If you don't, the team stops telling you.
How it works
- Create a board and share the link. Everyone adds stickies - they can't see each other's until you reveal.
- Reveal, group similar stickies and vote on what matters most.
- Turn the top items into actions with owners and dates.
Worked example
Three people raise slow laptops. The team votes it the top issue. Action: order new laptops this week - a quick win. Cost: small. Message to the team: we listen.
FAQ
Can it be anonymous?
Yes, as a whole-board setting - but named boards work better. Teams fix more when people own what they raise.
Can we run it remotely?
Yes. Run it live with a timer, or leave it open for a few days and reveal at the end.
How often?
Monthly or quarterly. Or after a big push.
